At last I've abandoned maybe the last typical so called bad PHP habit, this time the typical way to meddle markup with code by migrating to a template system. My own of course because I'm the living definition of Not invented here.
Simplate derives from simple template and you may be sure that it will keep its promise. No loops, no control structures, no functions to be called from within the template (that's what WikiParser is good for), just replacing placeholders. Ask kindly and maybe I'll throw in a cache and some optimization later.
I took a brief look on Smarty, of course, simply to quench the part of my personality that berated the other part for showing NIH again. However, it escapes me why I should use a language which is interpreted by a language which is interpreted to get stuff done...
